HER UNWAVERING
DEDICATION, AND HER
LEADERSHIP IN
DEVELOPING YOUNG
FEMALE ATHLETES, HAS
HAD A LASTING IMPACT
ON THE LOCAL SPORTS
COMMUNITY

Coach Sharon has been a foundational figure in the development of girls’ hockey in our community for more than three decades. Sharon was a founding member of the Coldwater Capitals during the 1994 – 1995 season, helping establish opportunities for young female athletes to participate in organized hockey in the North Simcoe region. Her early involvement helped lay the groundwork for what would eventually grow into the strong girls’ hockey program we see today.

Since 2003, when the organization was still known as the Coldwater Capitals, Sharon has been actively involved in developing young female athletes through the fundamental hockey program, and in 2004 she took over leadership of the program. Through this role, she has introduced countless young girls to the game of hockey, teaching the core skills and confidence needed to develop both as players and as individuals.

Through her long-standing involvement with North Simcoe Girls Hockey, Coach Sharon has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to fostering a positive, supportive, and inclusive environment for young athletes. She has devoted countless volunteer hours to teaching skills, building confidence and encouraging teamwork among the girls she coaches.

Sharon’s impact reaches far beyond wins and losses. Many of the athletes she helped develop in their earliest years have continued on to play competitive hockey, carrying with them the strong fundamentals and love for the game that she instilled. Her patience, leadership, and passion for the sport have made her a role model for generations of young players.

Sharon was instrumental in the development of the Penetang and Midland Ladies Hockey League (PMLHL) providing a safe and welcoming place for women of all ages and skill levels. With her selfless commitment and leadership on the league executive, for over 30 years and counting, the league has grown and become stronger. Women come not just to play hockey, but to support each other, socialize, have fun, and for many, develop life long friendships.

Sharon’s work exemplifies the true spirit of a builder. By establishing strong development pathways for female hockey players, promoting participation and creating opportunities for all to play, she continues to make a lasting contribution to the growth of female hockey in the Midland and North Simcoe Region.

Simply the Best!
