If I think back about 18 months ago to a dinner for Bill Jones, Sr., I was approached by Buzz Deschamps on the possibility of a Sports Hall of Fame in Midland. All the hard work that has gone on since then has brought us to October 12, 1996. Our community of Midland has had its share of achievers. All those who have contributed to sports in our community have to be congratulated for a job well done. I believe that all those involved in sports over the years have produced quality people, living and working in this community.
I want to personally thank all those who worked so efficiently to develop the Sports Hall of Fame for Midland. Congratulations to those inductees who are being recognized tonight. You have made Midland proud of your efforts and we salute your achievements.
